October 31, 2025, will be remembered as a day when the United States government designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) due to severe violations of religious freedom. While we acknowledge the gravity of this designation, we urge our fellow citizens to exercise restraint and instead use this moment for introspection and collective action.
At Grateful Nation Nigeria, we recognize the pain and suffering endured by countless Christians and other vulnerable groups in our country. The killings, abductions, and destruction of places of worship are a stark reminder of the urgent need for decisive action. We cannot afford to be complacent or triumphant in the face of such atrocities.
We call on the Nigerian government to:
– Prioritize the safety and security of all citizens, regardless of their faith or ethnicity
– Take concrete steps to address the root causes of violence and extremism
– Ensure justice and accountability for perpetrators of violence against Christians and other minorities
– Protect the rights of all Nigerians to worship freely and live without fear of persecution
We also urge our international partners to continue engaging with Nigeria, providing support and guidance in its efforts to promote religious tolerance and freedom.
Let us work together towards a Nigeria where everyone can live in peace and harmony, free from fear and violence. We owe it to ourselves, our children, and future generations to strive for a better, more just society.
May God bless Nigeria and guide our leaders in this critical moment.
Signed,
Obadiah KALU MBILA
