We condemn the recent call by the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) for the sack of Prof. Amupitan, Chairman of the Independent National Commission (INEC), over his advocacy against the killing of Christians in Nigeria. This is yet another attempt to silence voices that speak out against violence and persecution, especially when the action was taken by an independent Lawyer, not government appointee.
We urge President Tinubu to reject any demands that seek to undermine the rule of law and constitutionally guaranteed rights. The President must prioritize the safety and security of all Nigerians, regardless of their faith or ethnicity.
Grateful Nation demands that the President takes a firm stance against extremist groups that seek to divide and destabilize the country. We call on the President to ensure that the rights of all citizens are protected and that those responsible for violence and persecution are held accountable.
Key Demands:
– Rejection of MURIC’s call for Prof. Amupitan’s sack
– Protection of citizens’ rights to free speech and expression
– Accountability for perpetrators of violence and persecution
– Firm action against extremist groups that seek to divide and destabilize the country
We expect the President to take bold action to address the growing insecurity and violence in the country. The people demand a government that prioritizes their safety and well-being above all else.
